pining, reaching, feeling

juror’s statement:

as i sorted through the submissions for this exhibition, i noticed common threads. this didn’t surprise me because these students are building and sustaining a community on campus, but the depth of this work moved (shook) me. what i felt was exciting and painful at the same time. the most prominent common thread of an otherworldly understanding was captivating. art is a catalyst for understanding emotions big and small while exploring what it means to honor the process. i found myself enveloped in not just the materials, but the nods to fairytales and dreams. i was interested in more than just the technique, but in how the artists were rewriting history and unpacking memory. my hope for you, as an observer, is to pine, reach and feel what these works (these artists) have offered you. i give my deepest congratulations and praises to all of these artists.
